Rain🌫

It's the end of June! 

The month of rain, of thunder and lightning and wet umbrellas and raincoats, brewing coffees, boiling teas, frying pakoras, maggie bowls, cosy blankets, muddy shoes, dirty window panes, leaking sheds, power cuts, scented candles, humid air, screaming bookshelves, wet jeans, the gentle sound of my Nanu's snores, singing bulbuls, parakeets, mynas, magpie robins, sunbirds, spotted doves, tiny flowerpeckers, kingfishers, common tailorbirds, cuckoos, howling of the greater coucals, and their flooding hearts dancing in rain.

This is why I am in love with this month, because it is always full of stories.

People say rain heals. Maybe or maybe not. Rain opens the wounds every time and it stings. 

It reminds me of home, of sorrows, of the battles that I have been through and the battles that are yet to be fought, the downs and the swaddling wounds while making paper boats.

The month reminds me that you can't just run away from your pain, you can't rip it off your body, your head, your life, and then leave, you have to go through it. Rain brings the flood in which I wish to float, it brings the desire that rests behind the dark clouds. It brings hope, power and sometimes light! 

It assures new life, to the beings around you and within you. I love rain because it helps me to find “me” amidst the clouds, in the mud, through the wet grass, in the paper boats, rain songs and the green noises.

I love thunderstorms and how everything just turns silent when it's pouring. The fear in people's eyes as if they are to lose something precious, and I love to see how they assume that it's all in their control. 

Rain has power, immense power to control you, the way you think your emotions, your thoughts, your actions, everything. Everytime I write about rain and this month, I feel as if I have left something, I have forgotten something. 

The note is never complete, there will always be something which will call me back, to complete this, maybe now, or maybe in the next monsoon!
